Edinburgh International Climbing Arena lets you experience craggy cliffs and impressive heights in a safe environment, and is a great attraction for experienced climbers and rookies alike. Hang tough from the arena’s 35m high walls, and climb with or without an instructor depending on your experience level. For beginners, taster and start-up courses allow you to ease into the sport, and in addition to climbing, there are activities such as abseiling and bouldering to enjoy. The EICA also lets you take part in Aerial Assault, a course suspended 100 feet in the air and which you can tackle while supported by harnesses. The Aerial Assault course is the ultimate adrenaline rush, and takes 30 minutes to complete – provided your nerves can stand it! As well as providing hours of fun for the whole family, the Centre can be used by corporate clients looking to use the space for seminars and meetings.

The new clip and climb facilities are excellent for novice climbers, allowing an hour taster session without any previous experience. You do need to book as these are very popular. Café closes at 5pm on a Sunday, in case you're a thirsty parent waiting on a session to finish.
